Job Description

Job Summary:

Responsible for supervising the receipt and storage of all incoming wrapping materials (NTMs) to assure proper procedures, guidelines, and safety practices are followed. This includes such activities as but is not limited to assuring all materials are accurately received, properly rotated, issued, and inventoried, managing the inbound and outbound material flow to the production floor, working with the planning department to ensure proper levels of materials are delivered on time to support the factory, and reviewing processes for optimization and make recommendations for improvement.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assure all wrapping materials and adhesives are received to meet production schedules by properly communicating with manufacturing management/supervision, traffic, purchasing and inventory control. Assures materials have quality assurance approval prior to issuing to manufacturing by completion of a daily check sheet of material requirements.
  • Assure accurate month end physical inventories of wrapping materials and adhesives by supervising employees in the established guidelines and procedures in the receipts and issues of materials and by completing physical inventories twice daily of designated materials to verify receipts and issues of materials.  Work with planning department to coordinate incoming materials and inventory levels.
  • Assure employees follow good housekeeping and safety practices by requiring work areas kept clean and equipment operated within the guidelines of safety as described in equipment training manuals.
  • Participate in Operations quality control initiatives pertaining to operating procedures, work instructions, training, internal audits, and adherence to policies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the Company's enterprise financial system, SAP, and the lot tracking and product genealogy system.  Understands these systems and their specific utilization within the span of control of this position.  Uses reports generated by these systems to monitor process operation and develop methods to evaluate the operation and/or improve processes.  Must have full knowledge and understanding of 'contingency play' methods to circumvent a system failure.
  • Adhere to general standards to promote a cooperative working environment by utilizing good communication skills, interpersonal relationships, and team building.
  • Supervise the day-to-day roles of the Receiving Department employees.  Responsible for directing activities, hiring, discipline and developing SOPs.
  • Continuously review procedures for incoming and outgoing materials to optimize processes for continuous improvements.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Manufacturing, Supply Chain or related field of study and 3+ years relevant work experience, OR
  • Associate degree in Business Administration, Manufacturing, Supply Chain or related field of study and 5+ years relevant work experience, OR
  • High School Diploma or GED and 7+ years relevant work experience

Experience to include, but is not limited to:

  • Demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills, e.g., managerial, supervisory, or team lead experience
  • Relevant experience with shipping and receiving workflow, inventory management procedures, and troubleshooting and mitigating issues.

Knowledge of:

  • Intermediate to Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, & PowerPoint) and Microsoft Teams
  • Contingency planning methods used to circumvent system failure
  • Working knowledge of information technology systems supporting shipping and receiving activities

Preferred Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Supply Chain and 10+ years relevant work experience and 5+ years supervisory and/or managerial experience
  • Experience to include, but not limited to:
    • Experience managing or leading a warehouse operation
    • Working knowledge of applicable regulations
    • Working knowledge of information technology systems supporting shipping and receiving activities, experience with Warehouse Inventory Control System (WIC), Ticket Management System (TMS), Lot Tracking, Business Objects, and SAP is a plus.
    • Experience supervising shipping and receiving in a highly regulated industry

  • Occasionally lifts or moves objects up to 50 lbs.

  • Stoops, bends, kneels, crouches, or crawls.
  • Walks, sits, or stands for extended periods.
  • Requires prolonged machine operation including vehicle, computer, and keyboard equipment.
  • Use of manual dexterity and fine motor skills.
  • Ability to identify and distinguish color and shades of color.
  • Exposure to uncomfortable work environment due to extreme temperature, noise level, and other conditions including second-hand smoke and/or vape.
